Chicago store owner dies after beating
A businessman who owned a jewelry supply store in downtown Chicago has died, almost a week after two armed men burst into his home and attacked him.
The Cook County medical examiner's office reports that 57-year-old Shai Miller died Tuesday.
Police say Miller was bound with duct tape and beaten during the Oct. 27 home invasion. Authorities say the attackers also tied up Miller's 14-year-old son.
Police say the attackers then fled with jewelry, silverware and a painting.
State records show that Miller owned Miller's Jewelry Supply, which provides jewelers with display cases and jewelry making equipment.
