'Tis the season for holiday house walks

It's time for holiday housewalks around the suburbs.

Naperville

Dates: Thursday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 2

What: Naperville Garden Club Cup of Cheer opens four houses from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2.

Tickets: $55 for Thursday, $35 for Friday, available from several businesses and online at Napervillegardenclub.org

Etc.: A holiday market and tea and the souvenir cup and saucer included in the ticket price are at the Harold and Eva White Activities Center at Benton Avenue and Loomis Street on the North Central College Campus. People without tickets may shop after noon on Friday. Trolley rides are available for an additional fee. Homes are decorated by Garden Club members.

Geneva

When: Friday Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3

What: Geneva Chamber of Commerce presents five homes dating from 1895 to 2008. The hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Tickets: $30 from several merchants and the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, 8 S. Third St.

Etc: Tea at Congregational Church, 327 Hamilton St., included

Elgin

When: Saturday, Dec. 3

What: NorthEast Neighborhood Association of Elgin will open seven houses from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Tickets: $12 in advance at Jewel Food Stores, 1040 Summit Ave., and 1660 Larkin Ave.; and Zeigler Ace Hardware, 215 N. Spring St., and 1158 Lillian St.

Day of walk: $15 at old Sherman Hospital, 934 Center St.

Etc.: Parking free; trolley will loop through neighborhood

Mount Prospect

When: Sunday, Dec. 4

What: Mount Prospect Historical Society opens five homes in Golfview Estates on the south edge of the Mount Prospect Golf Course from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4.

Programs: At a tent on South Ojibwa Trail just north of West Blackhawk Drive

Tickets: $20 through Saturday at several local businesses and Lions Park, 411 S. Maple St; and the Dietrich Friedrichs House museum, 101 S. Maple St.

Day of the walk: $22 at registration tent

Libertyville

When: Wednesday, Dec. 7

What: St. Joseph Women's Guild opens five Libertyville houses from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7.
