Forest View ready for St. Baldrick’s Day
Forest View Alternative School will sponsor its third annual “St. Baldrick’s Day” on March 9, when employees of Northwest Suburban High School District 214, staff and students will gather to get a haircut or have their heads shaved to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer.
This year, Forest View will participate in the Fox Schools Challenge. In 2011, 58 area schools and more than 3,000 shavees and volunteers joined the challenge, raising more than $1 million.
Krista Paul, District 214 internship coordinator at Forest View Educational Center, has invited students from Empire Beauty School in Arlington Heights to assist in the snipping, shearing, and shaving of tresses.
Students and staff may sign up to support and participate the event by clicking on the link: http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/4482/2012.
The community is also encouraged to get involved with their support. For more information about the St. Baldrick’s Day event or to find out how to donate money or hair to Locks of Love, contact John Schwarz at john.schwarz@d214.org.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization, other than the U.S. government. Participants will provide hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Rd. in Arlington Heights.
