Former White Sox at Schaumburg Boomers’ July 3 celebration

Some Chicago White Sox alumni will be celebrity guests at the Schaumburg Boomers’ movie and fireworks events at their stadium on Tuesday, July 3. Signing autographs during the 6 to 10 p.m. event will be the Boomers’ first-base coach and two-time All Star for the White Sox, Carlos May, and mid-1980s center fielder John Cangelosi. Former White Sox and Cubs pitcher Steve Trout will participate in fan batting practice, which allows up to 10 fans the chance to swing at two rounds of 12 pitches each for $50. An all-you-can eat picnic is available for $15 by calling the Boomers in advance at (847) 461-3695. The 8 p.m. screening of the baseball movie “The Sandlot” and the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. are free.
