Applications being accepted for Hoffman Estates Citizen Fire Academy

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department is accepting applications for its 12th annual Citizen Fire Academy. The academy is an opportunity for residents of the Village of Hoffman Estates to experience and learn about the inner workings of the department.

They will learn about home fire safety, CPR and the history of the department and also get a chance to climb a 100-foot ladder, use the “Jaws of Life” and lead a fire company into a burning building. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and reside, attend school or work in Hoffman Estates.

Classes will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Fire Station 24, located at 5775 Beacon Pointe Drive. The academy starts on Sept. 5 and ends on Nov. 7. Class size is limited, and spots fill up quickly. Email Lt. Tony Butler at tony.butler@hoffmanestates.org or call (847) 695-8502 for information.
