D103 classes to be cut short on Sept. 14

The students and staff of Lincolnshire-Prairie View Elementary District 103 will have the first early release day of the 2012-13 term Friday, Sept. 14.

Classes will end early to provide professional development time for staff members. Teachers will use the time to plan for the integration of common core state standards with the grade level curriculum in the district for English and mathematics.

Teachers also will learn about curriculum revisions that were completed over the summer, and they can learn about approaches in foreign language, physical education and the arts.

The other early release days for this school year are: Dec. 5, Feb. 15, April 10, and May 29.

On those dates, students will have the following schedules:

Ÿ Daniel Wright Junior High School classes will run from 7:50 to 10:50 a.m.

Ÿ Half Day School and Laura B. Sprague School classes will run from 9:05 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

Ÿ The early childhood program won’t have classes.

For details, contact Katie Reynolds, the district’s executive director for curriculum and instruction, at (847) 295-4030 or kreynolds@d103.org.
