Call for community volunteers for West Chicago leaf-raking event

West Chicago, Illinois: October 4, 2012 – Community volunteers are needed for the annual leaf-raking activity, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10.

The success this event enjoys reflects the strong tradition of service found in the community of West Chicago.

For the past several years, organized volunteers have joined forces to tackle the yards of senior citizens who are unable to rake their fallen leaves themselves.

Past events have brought out school groups, scout troops, church ministries and others, who make a difference in the lives of the community's senior residents and have a great time in the process.

West Chicago Crime Prevention Officer Tony Quarto is organizing the leaf-raking service project this year. Volunteers will meet at 7 a.m. at the Fox Community Center, 306 Main St., and return at 11 a.m. for a pizza party.

Those wishing to volunteer and those wishing to request assistance should contact him at (630) 293-2222 or by email to tquarto@westchicago.org.
