Business grant available for new investment in downtown West Chicago

West Chicago, Illinois: January 29, 2013 - A new Retail and Restaurant Business Grant Program sponsored by the City of West Chicago aims to strengthen retail business activity in the downtown TIF District. It will make it possible for eligible retailers or restaurateurs wishing to make an investment for new development or expansion to receive a matching grant of up to $10,000. The Program is open to new or existing brick and mortar businesses in the downtown TIF area.

According to West Chicago Director of Community Development, John D. Said AICP, the City hopes to lure retail and restaurant businesses through the financial assistance the new program provides for interior improvements; while the existing Façade Grant Program offsets the costs of exterior improvements. “We are excited about offering yet another compelling reason to do business in West Chicago. Our hope is that this incentive catches the attention of serious-minded entrepreneurs who are looking for a supportive community with a host of other pro-business attributes.”

To be eligible for the Program a prospective business owner must submit a business plan along with the required application. Additionally, the City requires a 3-year commitment from the business in the form of a lease or deed to the building. “We're looking to attract well-conceived retail and restaurant concepts,” added Said. All qualifying details and an application may be found at www.westchicago.org under Community Development. Questions concerning the details of the Program, or how to complete the grant application, should be directed to Mr. John D. Said AICP, Director, at jsaid@westchicago.org or (630) 293-2205, ext. 140. Completed applications should be delivered to West Chicago City Hall, addressed to the attention of the Director of Community Development.
