Alexian Brothers fitness festival returns to Hoffman Estates July 20
The annual Alexian Brothers Fitness For America Sports Festival will be held July 20-21 with an expo on Friday, July 19, in Hoffman Estates.
This is a full weekend of inline skating and running events for all fitness levels.
The course travels through north Hoffman Estates, beginning and ending at the front drive to the AT&T complex, 2046 Lakewood Blvd., past Paul Douglas Forest Preserve and over a few hills.
A water station will be provided on course and medical service will be stationed at the finish line.
Because roads will be closed off for events, access to parking is on Lakewood Boulevard east of Barrington Road. Do not use Central Road.
The festival promotes fitness, health, community and environment.
Highlights include:
Ÿ Events for all fitness levels: kids, recreation, fitness, advanced, amateur athlete and professional divisions
Ÿ The Luigino Chicagoland Inline Tour, as the nation’s top inline speedskating athletes vie for a $3,350 cash purse and including the second-largest inline skating marathon in the U.S., with an international draw.
Ÿ A half marathon and 10K skate.
Ÿ The Sunset Half Marathon run, part of the Chicago Half Marathon Series.
Ÿ 10K run and 5K run-walk.
Ÿ Free kids events.

Saturday
1:15 p.m. Stage 1, 2-mile time trials, starting at about 20-second intervals.
1:55 p.m. Stage 2, 10K circuit races begin. Last heat starts at 3:15 p.m. Awards given directly after each heat.
Sunday 9:45 a.m. Stage 3, the inline marathon begins. Last heat starts at 9:54 a.m.
11:15 a.m. Awards.
