Car lands in creek after Huntley crash

A vehicle with two occupants ended upside down in a creek after a crash at Kreutzer Road and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Huntley Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Upon arrival, authorities found a woman emerging from the 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, while the 76-year-old male driver was stuck inside, police said.

Huntley firefighters extricated the driver from the vehicle. The woman was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock and the man was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, both in stable condition, police said.

A preliminary investigation found the vehicle was eastbound on Kreutzer Road, left the roadway, struck the guardrail, and continued down the embankment into the creek, flipping upside down, police said.

Kreutzer Road was shut down between Haligus Road and Smith Drive until about 4 p.m. The Union Pacific Railroad also was shut down due to the tracks’ proximity to the crash site.

The accident is under investigation, though as of early Wednesday night police had not yet talked to the occupants of the vehicle.
