United Airlines to award miles for World Food Day donations

CHICAGO - United Airlines and its partners, Chase bank and Visa, are supporting customers who donate to nonprofit organizations that provide hunger relief to communities in need.

Between Oct. 15 and Nov. 30, United MileagePlus Visa cardmembers will receive five total miles for every dollar donated, up to $1,000, to selected food organizations. The program is in recognition and support of World Food Day.

World Food Day is celebrated annually on Oct. 16 to commemorate the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. It promotes worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all.

"We're proud to partner with United and Visa to provide cardmembers with a rewarding way to support efforts to address the hunger crisis in the U.S. and across the world," said Laurinda Rainey, general manager of United Co-Brand Cards at Chase.
