Newcomers in Deer Park village board
Deer Park voters gave the nod to two trustee candidates on the opposition slate - Dale Sands and Keith Olson, as well as to Joyce Trost Beattie, who ran with the incumbent village president's slate. Unofficial tallies showed Sands with 455 votes, Olson with 443 and Beattie with 330. All three are newcomers to the board and were elected to four-year terms. Sands and Olson ran on a slate with Trustee Bob Kellermann, who ran for and won the village president's seat, ousting incumbent Scott Gifford. Kellermann's slate has argued that the village has not been fiscally responsible.
