MILWAUKEE -- A convicted serial killer in Illinois has been charged in the 1989 beating death of a 32-year-old woman in Milwaukee.
Lorenzo Fayne is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Rita Scott, after DNA at the scene was retested recently and connected to the 38-year-old Fayne.
The complaint filed Tuesday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court says he confessed to the random killing to two cold cases detectives who interviewed him Oct. 23 at Menard Correctional Institution in Chester, Ill.
He is serving a life sentence there in the deaths of five girls in 1989, 1992 and 1993 in Illinois. The victims were ages 6, 9, 14 and two were 17.
Online court records did not list a defense attorney for Fayne or an initial court appearance date.
