The White Sox will travel to North Carolina to play an exhibition game against the Charlotte Knights, their Class AAA affiliate, before the start of the 2010 season, the teams announced Wednesday.

The White Sox and Knights haven't played each other since 1999. The Sox will travel to Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, N.C., to play Charlotte on April 1, before their season opener on April 5 vs. Cleveland at U.S. Cellular Field.

Start time and broadcast information will be determined at a later date.

"Every spring, we say it takes more than 25 players to win a championship," said Ken Williams, White Sox senior vice president/general manager. "Each year, players from the Knights come to Chicago to play important roles in helping us win games. We are looking forward to returning to Charlotte to play this exhibition game in front of the city's great fans. Players you see on both teams at this game will be difference makers in the Major Leagues in 2010.

"For us, this is one of our first steps in a season we believe will end with a postseason appearance for the White Sox next October."

Tickets will go on sale Dec. 1 and will cost between $7-19. For ticket and event information, call (704) 357-8071 or visit charlotteknights.com.
