A Chicago man has been sentenced to 150 years in prison for the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl while he was trying to kill two drug dealers.

Carail Weeks was convicted in September of killing of 14-year-old Starkesia Reed and the attempted murders of two drug dealers.

Weeks' first trial in December 2008 ended in a mistrial when the jury failed to reach an unanimous verdict.

Reed was getting ready to leave her Englewood home for school when the Weeks fired an AK-47-style rifle and a bullet crashed through a front window. Reed was hit in the face.

Weeks refused to speak before sentencing by Cook County Circuit Judge Joseph Kazmierski. His lawyer said Weeks felt sympathy for Reed's family, but was innocent of the murder.
