Never forget

Take part in honoring more than 650,000 American veterans who have given their lives in combat since the Revolutionary War, during a Veterans Day Luminary Tribute at Cantigny Park and First Division Museum. More than 2,200 candles will be lit in Cantigny's Parade Field. Each candle represents six 1st Infantry soldiers killed in action from World War I to the present, along with all American veterans who have given their lives. Guests are invited to walk through the rows of candles or to view the display from a designated driving route. The event will take place rain or shine.

Luminary Tribute begins at sunset (about 6 p.m.) and runs until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Cantigny Park and First Division Museum, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Admission and parking are free. (630) 260-8227 or FirstDivisionMuseum.org.

Let the holidays begin!

Start your holiday shopping early at the Holiday in the Halls craft fair and bake sale. More than 80 booths will feature holiday decorations and gift items. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to visit with guests and pose for photos.

Connie, Johnny and Cha-Cha

The Johnny Gabor Trio, with vocalist Connie Marshall, pianist Johnny Gabor and percussionist Daniella Montoya (known as Cha-Cha), team up to perform jazz, big, band, blues and pop rock music. Guests are invited to head our onto the dance floor - and musicians in the audience can get up onstage and join in the show. The program features the tunes of everyone from Frank Sinatra to Bette Midler and Celine Dion.

Aesop onstage

Chicago Kids Company presents a modern musical adaptation of the famed Aesop fable "The Tortoise and the Hare," with its famous moral of "slow and steady wins the race."

Baroque Music Ensemble

The Baroque Music Ensemble presents its classical/chorus program of early music. "The Dramatic Carissimi" features "Jepthe" and "Jonah," two oratorios by Giacomo Carissimi. Two baroque concertos by Pietro Locatelli are also part of the program.

A fine line
