I heard that Springfield is going to increase the driver's license renewal fee from $10 to $30. What spectacular chutzpah these politicians have.

They have emptied the state's coffers through their mismanagement of funds, their misguided and self-defeating tax policies, their antagonism toward business, their profligate pet-project spending and their coddling of illegal aliens. Now they want my family to shell out additional dollars each time a license is up for renewal - never mind that our income is already seriously eroded.

"But sirs!" we cry. "The people have no bread to eat. We have little cash for gas, as it is. It is already too expensive to drive."

And with Marie Antoinette-like hauteur, the politicians reply: "Take a cab."
