A 15-year-old from Hanover Park has been charged as an adult with attempted murder after police said he shot another 15-year-old in Streamwood on Halloween night.
Police said Jose Perez of Hanover Park and another teen, both wearing masks, approached the victim while he sat on a swing talking to friends at just before 8 p.m. Saturday. One of the teens shot the victim in the face and buttocks "without provocation" outside of 3000 Club Tree Drive, authorities said.
The victim was said to be in stable condition at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
After the shooting, police located Perez at the Bartlett Square Apartments, where they said he was still in possession of the .32-caliber weapon used in the attack.
The second teen was also been located and was in police custody Monday pending further investigation.
Police said the teens who perpetrated the shooting have gang ties but the victim does not.
Perez has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. Monday afternoon, his bond was set at $1 million.
