The Arlington Heights village board Monday approved a settlement of $300,000 for a woman who sued the village for injuries from a September 2006 fall on a village sidewalk.
Barbara Land filed a suit in Cook County Circuit Court after falling on a sidewalk along Falcon Road near the border with Mount Prospect, said Robin Ward, assistant village attorney. Ward said she believed Land lived in Arlington Heights, at least at the time of the accident.
Land suffered fractures to both shoulders and will likely have permanent injuries to both arms as a result of the fall, according to a memorandum from the village's legal department to the board.
"There was a significant differential between sidewalk squares in the area where she claims she fell," the memo said.
