Three teenagers have been arrested after breaking into a car in the 1000 block of Hilldale Drive Tuesday night, Buffalo Grove police officials said.
The three offenders - all 16 years old, were spotted going through the car by its owner at 6:45 p.m., said Cmdr. Steve Husak of the Buffalo Grove Police Department.
The owner called out to the teens, who backed out of the car and started to walk away, Husak said. The owner then chased the teens, catching two of the thieves within a couple of blocks, Husak said.
"Police got to the scene and had one of the teens call the third teen and have him return to the scene," Husak said. "So, the third was apprehended a couple of minutes later."
The three teens were taken to the Buffalo Grove Police Department and then released into the custody of their parents, Husak said.
Husak added the police department will petition the juvenile court to charge the teens with burglary and criminal trespass to a vehicle. However, it is unknown what the official charges will be until the three arrive in court later this month, Husak said.
