Side Street Studio Arts puts out call for exhibit 'Black Then, Black Now, Black in the Middle …'

In honor of Black History Month, Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin is taking submissions for its February exhibit "Black Then, Black Now, Black in the Middle …."

This exhibition will comprise both an open call to all artists and an invitational component of regional artists curated by Elgin-based artist Freddrick D. Wimms and Side Street Studio Arts Exhibitions Committee. To learn about the call to artists, visit www.sidestreetstudioarts.org/blackthenblacknow.

The exhibition is open to the public Feb. 5-28 with an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.

Submissions must be received by midnight Wednesday, Jan. 20. Submissions will be limited to 3 works or less, including sets or triptychs. No submission fees are required. No late submissions will be accepted. Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email.

Complete one form per piece of artwork; do not put multiple pieces on the same form, unless they are part of a series and are meant to be displayed as one artwork. Submissions will be limited to 3 works or less, including sets or triptychs.
