Kane County treasurer: Rickert

Kane County needs a treasurer who not only keeps a watchful eye on cash flow but on the future to keep the budget in line. Republican David Rickert has consistently shown the ability to adapt the office to technological change to spur productivity and cut costs.

The new treasurer's office website created a searchable database for taxpayers and added a layer of transparency important in keeping the public informed.

Rickert worked with the supervisor of assessments and county clerk offices to publish the Quick Guide to Property Taxes, answering the top 10 most frequent taxpayer questions.

His focus on teamwork also yielded a unified tax system among the offices involved in the tax cycle to streamline that process. Other procedural changes like the drive-through property tax bill drop box and adding more teller windows to the office were wins for the taxpayer as well.

Democratic challenger Joseph Lowery was not available for an editorial board interview.

Rickert is endorsed.
