Streamwood's Bogdajewicz to Regis

On her online softball profile, Streamwood senior Brianna Bogdajewicz lists one of her interests as snowboarding.

Where Bogdajewicz is headed for college, she should get plenty of action on the board.

And, she'll get to play her favorite sport softball on scholarship.

Bogdajewicz recently committed to accept a scholarship offer from NCAA Division II Regis University in Denver, Colo.

“I always liked it in Colorado and when we visited I really liked the school,” Bogdajewicz said. “It's a good softball program and a good nursing program and that's what I want to get into.”

Bogdajewicz, who has a 3.7 GPA at Streamwood, plays a variety of positions. For the Sabres she was the starting shortstop and earned honorable mention all-area honors the past two years. In travel ball, she played center field for the DuPage Diamond Dawgs, where this past summer she hit .451 with 35 stolen bases for coach Dominic Conenna's team. She is also a switch-hitter who slaps from the left side.

Conenna's connection with new Regis coach Nicole Trimboli helped Bogdajewicz get on Regis' radar.

“(Conenna) knows Nicole and she helped us with batting practice sometimes,” Bogdajewicz said. “I really like Nicole and I really like the school. It's small. I thought Division I might be too much pressure. At Regis I can relax and have more fun.”

Regis was 22-28 last season and 17-23 in the Rocky Mountain Conference. Trimboli, a former Chicago Bandit who now plays for the USSSA Pride in the National Pro Fastpitch league, will be in her first year as the head coach for the Rangers. She previously coached as an assistant at Central Florida and Portland State, among others.

Larson to Sauk Valley: Huntley senior Taylor Larson has committed to continue her softball career at Sauk Valley Community College. Larson was 19-10 for the Red Raiders in the pitcher's circle last season.
