Two critically injured in Elgin crash

Three people pushing a vehicle in Elgin were injured, two of them critically, when a car slammed into their vehicle Thursday night, police said.

Two individuals were pushing the vehicle from the back and a third was pushing it from the driver's side door north on Route 31 between I-90 and Airport Road when a vehicle, also headed north, struck the vehicle being pushed, police said.

The accident occurred at approximately 10 p.m.

The car being pushed was a black Ford Mustang and the vehicle that struck the Mustang was a white Chevy Corsica, according to police.

The two individuals who were pushing the Mustang from behind were transported to area hospitals in critical condition, police said. The third individual was in “good condition.”

An investigation at the scene continued late Thursday, and no further information was available.
