Barnes and Noble, 47 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, will welcome children's book author Ginny Hornby and illustrator Christine Winscott for a reading and signing of the book “Kathryn the Grape — Just Like Magic!” at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25.

After the reading, Winscott will show attendees how to draw characters from the book. Hornby and Winscott also will sign copies of the book after the reading.

“Kathryn the Grape — Just Like Magic” is the story of a young girl nicknamed Kathryn the Grape, and her magical butterfly friend, Maggie. Readers accompany Kathryn the Grape and Maggie as they discover their own inner strength and fearlessness, learn about making new friends, and the importance of helping others. This book takes readers on a journey of discovery and spreads the message that everyone is magical.

Hornby of Montgomery is a co-author of the “Kathryn the Grape” series. Winscott is an artist from North Aurora. She fulfilled a lifelong dream by completing the illustrations for this book. “Bringing the images of Kathryn the Grape to life was a fun and exciting journey. I have always dreamed of illustrating a children's book and each character has become near and dear to my heart,” says Winscott.
