Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club stays open
Though foreclosed upon about a month ago, the Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club will continue operations as usual this season while in receivership.
No changes are foreseen this year for either the golf course itself or the club restaurant, Club Director Quentin Grasso said.
The foreclosure affects only the members-only golf course of Lake Barrington Shores — believed by Lake Barrington village officials to be one of the oldest gated communities in the state. The community opened in the early 1970s, Lake Barrington Village Administrator Christopher Martin said.
Martin and Village Attorney James Bateman said the village plans no active role for itself in the foreclosure or expected sale of the golf course.
Rumors of the village making plans to buy the course with funding from its Open Space Initiative are not true, officials said.
“We're far from a plan or a road map on what the village might do except for keeping a watchful eye on an important amenity,” Bateman said.
Martin said the village still has landscaping and infrastructure standards which the property must adhere to.
As the club is in receivership, it's already officially up for sale and seeking a buyer, Grasso said.
The receiver, Mitchell P. Kahn, could not be reached for comment.
The club restaurant is reopening for the season, having been closed as usual during the months of January, February and March.
