‘Truck pull’ fundraiser Oct. 8 in Oak Brook

Ronald McDonald House Charitieswill sponsor “Pulling for the House,” a massive truck-pull competition Saturday, Oct. 8, in Oak Brook.

Teams of 20 will compete to pull a dump truck, a fire truck and a full semitrailer as fast as they can. In order to enter, each team must first raise $4,000 for the four Chicago-area Ronald McDonald Houses, where families may stay while their children are receiving medical treatment far from home.

The event also will include a series of “Joes vs. Pros” contests pitting average folks against professional Strong Men in such events as a monster truck tire flip.

Family activities include music, food, drinks, games, prizes, raffles and a visit from Ronald McDonald.

Doors open at 8 a.m. in the McDonald’s Plaza parking lot, 2111 McDonald’s Drive, Oak Brook. The truck pull and family festival start at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the awards presentation at 12:30 p.m.

In July 2012, Chicago will be home to the world’s largest Ronald McDonald House, standing 14 stories tall in the city’s Streeterville neighborhood.
