Woodstock among cities recognizable in movies
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Woodstock has been named among the "Top Five Places You'll Recognize from the Movies."
The set of the 1993 movie "Groundhog Day" was named in an episode of "Wanderlust," the first travel series on Yahoo! News.
Woodstock is 60 miles northwest of Chicago. It was No. 4 on the list.
It followed Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, for "Twilight;" Tucson, Ariz., for "Rio Bravo;" and Dyersville, Iowa, for "Field of Dreams." Fifth was Savannah, Ga., the backdrop for "Forrest Gump."
"Groundhog Day" is about a weathercaster who lives the same day over and over. Director Harold Ramis was born in Chicago. It starred Bill Murray, who was born in the northern Chicago suburb of Wilmette, and Andie McDowell.
