21-year-old woman found slain in Aurora apartment

A 21-year-old Aurora woman was found murdered inside her near east-side apartment Wednesday morning.

Family members of Rennee Ann Perry called police around 10:40 a.m. Monday for a well-being check, and responding officers found her unconscious and not breathing inside her apartment on the 900 block of Second Avenue, police said.

“Her body contained obvious signs of trauma,” according to an Aurora police news release.

Perry was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:18 a.m.

Perry was a mother of two young children, including one who was born in October, said Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

Authorities said Perry's family had not heard from her since Monday and called police Wednesday morning to check on her.

There were no suspects in custody as of early Wednesday evening, but police do not believe the murder to be random. Authorities are following up on several leads.

Police continue to investigate Perry's living situation inside her apartment, but it does not appear that she was married, Ferrelli said.

Police are expected to release more information Thursday morning following a 9 a.m. autopsy.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police at (630) 256-5500 or anonymously at Aurora Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. An award of up to $5,000 is available for any information leading to an arrest.
