Freezing rain, some snow possible Tuesday

Forecasters are urging anyone hitting the road Monday night through Tuesday afternoon to prepare for icy conditions as freezing rain and up to 2 inches of snow are expected.

Light freezing rain could begin falling late Monday night before temperatures fall throughout the day Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain will turn to snow starting at about daybreak Tuesday and will total up to one or two inches through Tuesday afternoon, according to meteorologists.

Strong wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph are possible Tuesday morning, which will causing blowing snow and reduce visibility to a mile or less in some areas.

Temperatures are expected to drop from the lower 30s tonight into the mid-20s by Tuesday evening. Tuesday night, lows will dip to between 5 and 9 degrees, with wind chills as low as minus-10.
