Villa Park cops investigating attack on woman

Villa Park police are searching for a man who dragged a woman behind a garage, knocked her to the ground and attempted to remove her jacket.

The woman was able to fight the man off and call 911, Detective Sgt. Dan McCann said.

Police said they responded to the call around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday on the 300 block of North Ardmore Avenue.

The woman told officers she was walking north on Ardmore at Division Street when the man attacked her from behind.

She described her attacker as a black man around 20 years old who stands about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs roughly 170 pounds. He was clean shaven, had short curly black hair and was wearing a brown or dark-colored jacket with a red-hooded sweatshirt.

McCann said police have increased patrols in the area.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call police at (630) 834-7447.
