ZZ Top coming to Naperville’s Ribfest

ZZ Top, a blues-rock trio from Texas, will take center stage July 1 during the Naperville Exchange Club’s Ribfest celebration at Knoch Park near downtown.

The trio — Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard — reached its peak in the 1970s and 1980s with a rock approach to the blues.

The festival, which runs from June 29 through July 3, already has the Steve Miller Band scheduled to perform.

Ribfest Chairman Mark Wright said tickets will go on sale in March and be date-specific for Steve Miller and ZZ Top. The rest of the dates will have tickets that can be used any of the other three days of the event.

Ribfest features 16 rib vendors along with numerous music acts and other attractions. Over the past 25 years it has donated roughly $12 million to more than 50 area agencies working for the elimination of child abuse and domestic violence.
