Larkin splits: Kiernan Schock threw a 4-hitter with 9 strikeouts as Larkin won Game 1 of a doubleheader with Wauconda 13-5. Jaclyn Saurbaugh (3-for-5, 2 doubles), Nikki Banks (3-for-5, HR), Maggie Hofmann (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Aida DeLaFuente (3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Alex Buhrow (3 RBI), Schock (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Lexi Smithberg (2 RBI) led the Royals’ offense. In Game 2, Larkin made 6 errors in losing 8-7. Smithberg was 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI, Kaitlyn Curley was 2-for-3, DeLaFuente went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Buhrown had 2 RBI for the Royals (2-9). Smithberg was the losing pitcher.

Jacobs splits: Tori Berg allowed just 5 hits in pitching Jacobs to a 9-6 win over Hoffman Estates. Heather Chudy (3-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Kelsey Cummings (3-for-4, RBI) led the Jacobs offense. In their second game of the day, the Golden Eagles (3-3) lost to Lincoln-Way Central 11-1. Maggie Hansen had a double and an RBI for Jacobs and Berg was the losing pitcher.

South Elgin in Tennessee: The Storm completed a rough 0-7 trip to Tennessee with 3 losses Saturday, falling to defending Class 2A Alabama state champ Hutton 7-2, Scottsboro (AL) 9-2 and Parkersburg (W. VA) 7-0. Alyssa Buddle had a double and an RBI in the loss to Hutton and Sam Bolin allowed just 2 earned runs in suffering the pitching loss. She struck out 4 and walked 2. Against Scottsboro, Buddle had a double and a triple with an RBI and Taylor Rees drove in a run. Rees was the losing pitcher. Paige Allen suffered the pitching loss for the Storm (2-9) against Parkersburg.

Burlington Central in Tennessee: The Rockets completed a 4-1 trip to Tennessee with wins of 8-2 over Bearden (TN) and 2-0 over White House (TN). BC (6-4) also lost a tough 3-2 game to host Riverdale, the top-ranked team in Tennessee. No further information was available.

At Rockford East: Crystal Lake South remained undefeated for the season with 3 wins and a tournament championship at Rockford East. The Gators opened the day with a 5-0 win over Durand behind a no-hitter from freshman Haley Massey, who struck out 15 and walked 1. Samantha McLean was 2-for-4 with a double for CLS. In the semifinals, Heather Eck threw a 4-hitter as South rolled over Hampshire 17-2. Taylor Doppke was 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI and Liz Adams had 4 RBI. Rebecca Hurst took the loss for Hampshire. In the championship game, CL South defeated Rolling Meadows 5-4 on a walk off RBI double by Adams (3-for-4). Sam Golf also had an RBI for CLS (4-0). Hannah Mahoney picked up the win in the title game, allowing 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Hampshire defeated Marian Central 8-1 and lost to Rockford Boylan 3-0 in its other games at Rockford East. In the win over Marian Jen Hurst (5-0) allowed just 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and 4 walks for the Whip-Purs. Tiffany Bentley (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Jordan Hook (RBI) and Elisa Wood (2 RBI) each had doubles. Jen Hurst suffered her first loss of the season against Boylan. She and Sarah Finn each had 2 hits for the Whips (5-3).
