Baseball/Fox Valley roundup
Dundee-Crown scored 3 runs in the second inning then got a five innings of no-hit baseball from Nick Lodi Thursday in a 3-2 Fox Valley Conference win over Johnsburg.
Chris Gorman and Jake Romano each had run-scoring doubles in the second for Chargers (4-5-1, 1-0).
Lodi came on after Johnsburg had scored in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. He struck out 3 and walked 3 and the Chargers played an errorless game behind him.
“It was a good win,” said Dundee-Crown coach Timmy Parisi. “We preached defense and we came out strong defensively. We played small ball and got some timely hits and Lodi doesn’t allow a hit. That’s how you want to play baseball.”
