Conroy defeats Kordik in race for 46th state House seat
Democrat Deb Conroy says she wants to be a voice for DuPage County’s working- and middle-class families as the 46th state House district representative.
The Elmhurst artist and former Elmhurst Unit District 205 school board member defeated Republican Dan Kordik, a Villa Park attorney and York Township clerk, in the race for a 2-year term. With all precincts reporting unofficial results, Conroy took 58 percent of the vote to Kordik’s 42 percent.
In a contentious campaign, Conroy put out three television commercials and about 20 mailings — thanks in part to about $266,000 in funds from the state Democratic Party. One ad claimed Kordik believed schools shouldn’t be required to check whether employees are sex offenders.
The 46th House District covers parts of Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Lombard, Oakbrook Terrace and Villa Park.
