Magee arrives at Fire training camp

Forward Mike Magee arrived at Chicago Fire preseason training camp in Tucson, Ariz., on Wednesday night, Fire officials announced.

Sources said Magee, the 2013 MLS MVP, was holding out for a new contract, though Fire technical director Brian Bliss said Magee was excused to attend to a personal situation.

It was not immediately clear whether Magee will play in the Fire's final preseason match Saturday. Magee, Bliss and Frank Yallop, the Fire's first-year coach and director of soccer, are expected to be available to the media today.

The Fire returns to Chicago on Sunday ahead of Tuesday's season kickoff luncheon, then heads to Los Angeles to prepare for the March 9 season opener at Chivas USA.
