Carpentersville 17-year-old accused of dealing marijuana

A Carpentersville teen faces felony drug charges as police have accused him of selling marijuana to undercover officers twice.

Aleksander Czerwinski, 17, of the 1400 block of Meadowsedge Lane, was arrested Saturday after completing a drug deal, authorities said.

He faces felony charges of possession with intent to deliver 30 grams to 500 grams of marijuana, possession of 30 grams to 500 grams of marijuana and delivery of less than 10 grams of marijuana, according to court records.

The most serious felony carries a two- to five-year prison term, if convicted, but probation also is an option.

Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said Czerwinski is accused of selling 2 grams of cannabis to an undercover officer Jan. 11 and 16 grams to an undercover officer on Saturday.

After the deal took place, Bosshart said, uniformed officers pulled Czerwinski over near Binnie Hills Trail and Binnie Road, searched his car and found two more bags with a total of 60.56 grams of marijuana, a scale and $680, “including the money used (by police) to buy the half ounce.”

According to court records, Czerwinski does not have a criminal record. He posted 10 percent of his $50,000 bail and is free while his case is pending.

He is due in court Jan. 26.
