Lily Lake annexes land for project
Plans moved ahead Monday for a major residential and commercial development in Lily Lake, as the village board approved annexation of the 276-acre Huntington Ridge property.
Located along the east side of Route 47 and north of Empire Road, the development would dramatically increase the size of Lily Lake, a community of about 900 people in central Kane County.
Vestuto Real Estate Corp. of St. Charles wants to build roughly 235 single-family homes on the north 230 acres of the property. As part of the agreement with the village, lot sizes would be a minimum of 12,500 square feet.
The southern part of the development would include commercial buildings and townhouses on 46 acres, along with 16 single-family homes positioned on large lots to serve as a buffer between the businesses and an existing single-family subdivision.
"The commercial development is going to be great," Village President Jesse Heffernan said. "The developer is going to make sure it's done tactfully."
Residents have spoken against the plan at previous hearings, but none were present Monday as the village board approved the annexation.
The plan also includes a water and sewage treatment facility to serve the new development. The rest of the village is served by well and septic systems.
