Jazz Up Glen Ellyn celebrates music of Brazil

Jazz Up Glen Ellyn, which this year will feature more than 10 bands and celebrate the music of Brazil, takes center stage from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, in the village's downtown.

Two stages will be set up during the day, the Traditions stage and Innovations stage. Then, starting at 6 p.m., the show will expand to include music at many restaurants.

Some of the performing artists include Fareed Haque's Secret Tango Society and Tempero Brasileiro.

There will also be a tribute to Brazilian pianist and composer Breno Sauer, who was the part of Chicago's Som Brazil and died last year. Performing the tribute will be his wife, Neusa Sauer and Som Brazil at 8:30 p.m. on the Traditions stage.

There will be a samba parade through the grounds as well, along with a clinic on samba dancing and percussion playing.

Residents can bring picnics to the event while listening to the music. Food and beverages will be sold at the festival, along with Jazz Up merchandise.
