Elderly couple rescued after car plunges into Elgin lake

An elderly couple was plucked from their vehicle after it plunged into an Elgin lake Thursday afternoon when its driver apparently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

Family honors memory of St. Charles airman who perished in WWII

With one simple letter it was as if Susan Knight had just been given a second chance to know her uncle, Keith Jennings, an airman who had died after his P-47 bomber was shot down in 1944 over France during World War II. Jennings was only 20 years old at the time.
