A year ago, the Bulls gave up 102.5 points per game. It wasn't the worst in the league, by any means, but it was the team's highest total in points allowed since the 1989-90 season - just before defense began to dominate the NBA.

As of Friday afternoon, these were the two lowest scoring teams in the NBA. Charlotte, which played Atlanta at home Friday, was averaging a league-worst 79.8 points per game and shooting a putrid 36 percent as a team through four games.

An average defensive team at best last season, the Bulls are now able to produce clutch defensive stops. Some things are out of their control, though.
