A once-rising college football standout was sentenced today to 10 years in prison after he admitted attacking a woman in Lisle.

Kyle D. Williams must serve the time after completing a 37-year prison term he also received for attacking two female Purdue University students in West Lafayette, Ind., where he played football.

In that case, the 21-year-old Bolingbrook man was convicted of attempted rape, battery and confinement of the two women after a three-day trial last April.

A jury found him guilty of two attacks Nov. 29, 2005, two hours apart, one outside a sorority house and the other several blocks away. Both women were hit in the face. One had her pants pulled down. He was linked through DNA evidence to both crimes.

Williams was free on bond Feb. 12, 2006, when he admitted today attacking a woman in Lisle. He plead guilty to attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Prosecutors said Williams was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and mask when he followed the woman into a parking garage, grabbed her hair and punched her until she nearly lost consciousness.

She fought back and escaped, managing to get her attacker's license plate number, which police traced to Williams.

"It was because of the grace of God that this individual did not accomplish his intentions," the woman said. "I am nobody to judge, so all I can say is that I forgive him for all the pain he has caused me, and continues to cause me. I am still feeling the repercussions of that night that he pushed me to the ground and repeatedly beat me. Not to mention the emotional distress I have experienced."

Williams, originally, pleaded innocent and said the license plates were stolen from his vehicle and placed on an identical one at the time of the incident.

Williams is a graduate of Bolingbrook High School where he was an All-State linebacker. He originally was recruited by the University of Iowa, but joined the Purdue Boilermakers in 2005. His nickname, "the Bonecrusher," is tattooed on his arm.

He played freshman football for one year but was planning to transfer.

DuPage Circuit Judge Michael Burke presided over today's plea deal.
