PEORIA -- Prosecutors in Peoria have filed murder charges against the live-in girlfriend of a man who was shot to death last week.

The woman charged with two counts of first-degree murder Friday, 47-year-old Nora J. Patton, was already facing obstruction of justice charges in the Oct. 23 death of Johnny Tyler.

At an earlier hearing where Patton's bond was set at $40,000 on the obstructing justice count, prosecutors said it was Patton who reported Tyler's death, and that the two lived together.

Patton told police she found Tyler's body when she returned home from a night of partying. Police did not initially find a weapon at the scene, and there were no signs of forced entry to or items missing from the home.
