Arlington Heights is looking for nominees for the annual Hearts of Gold. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.

The program, sponsored by the Special Events Commission, recognizes people who live or work in the village who have enriched the quality of life of others.

One of the goals is to honor "unsung heroes" who do not typically receive communitywide recognition for their outstanding contributions.

Nominations for the 11 award categories must be sent to Nancy Kluz, c/o the Special Events Commission, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Nomination forms can also be returned to the village manager's office on the third level of village hall, or can be filled out and submitted online by visiting the Hearts of Gold story under "Village News" on the Home Page of the village Web site vah.com. To have a nomination form sent to you, call (847) 368-5104 or email nkluz@vah.com.

The Hearts of Gold Award categories include Mentor, Best Neighbor, Educator, Young at Heart, Heroic, Young Champion, Volunteer, "City of Good Neighbors," Business Leader, the Kenneth M. Bonder Community Beautification Heart of Gold, Business Leader, and the Pam Stocking Heart of Gold.

A description of each award category is included with the nomination forms and can also be reviewed online.
