Air Force band on tap:

The Falconaires, a division of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, will hold a free performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Hemmens Cultural Center. The 18-member Falconaires is one of the Air Force's two top jazz ensembles and plays a mix of traditional and contemporary big band jazz. The event is free, but tickets are required. To reserve a free ticket, call (847) 931-5900 or visit hemmens.org.

Huntley library gets a boost:

The Huntley Area Public Library is getting help from the community as the library struggles with space limitations and rising demand for its services. The Friends of the Huntley library recently donated $25,000 that will enable the library to buy shelving for a new mobile unit. The unit, which is scheduled to be installed later this year, will house the library's children's department and some events. The family of the late Hazel Kloempken, one of the library's founders, has established the "Creating a Legacy" fund in Kloempken's honor. The fund will accept donations of $100 that will go toward library expansion and other needs. Call (847) 669-5386.
