Valley View burglar pleads guilty

One of two men accused of burglarizing a pair of St. Charles Township homes while living in a camp on an island in the Fox River has pleaded guilty.

Kenneth P. White, 18, of the 6N600 block of Illinois Avenue, St. Charles, was sentenced to four years in prison by Judge Timothy Sheldon after pleading guilty to residential burglary, a Class 1 felony. He will receive credit for the 56 days he served in the Kane County jail awaiting trial.

Kane County Sheriff's deputies arrested White on May 6 after a homeowner in the Valley View subdivision reported a break-in by two men.

The homeowner tackled White as he tried to escape, but he broke free and continued to run, authorities said. He later fell down a ravine and broke an arm, according to Lt. Pat Gengler, a spokesman for the sheriff's department.

Deputies later saw White and Casey P. Fecteau, 19, of the 1200 block of Ronzheimer Avenue in St. Charles, crossing the Fox River from an island to the subdivision.

After Fecteau and White were arrested, deputies searched the island and found a camp that included a teepee. They also found items stolen in the burglaries.

Fecteau remains in the Kane County jail on $100,000 bail. His next court date is July 16.
