'Sparrow' flies high at House

"The Sparrow" still soars.

The House Theatre of Chicago's hit show about a small-town girl with special powers and a wounded spirit, sold out its initial January run and a six-week Steppenwolf Theatre extension. It went on to dominate the Joseph Jefferson Citation Awards earlier this summer, winning for new work, production, director, ensemble, original music, choreography and projection design.

And now "The Sparrow" returns. The new joint production between The House and Broadway in Chicago begins previews at Chicago's Apollo Theater, 2540 N. Lincoln Ave., Sept. 26, with an opening set for Oct. 3.

Performances are scheduled through Dec. 31. But if history is any indicator, it's likely "The Sparrow" will nest at the Apollo for some time.

Tickets range from $34.50 to $49.50. They're available at the Apollo box office, Broadway in Chicago box offices, by phone (773) 935-6100 or through ticketmaster.com.
