Two full days of live entertainment are expected to jazz up the 38th Annual Glen Ellyn Festival of the Arts.

Saturday is the Eclectic Picnic Music Experience, which features tunes from internationally renowned guitarist Fareed Haque, who's originally from Glen Ellyn, along with the Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus. Sunday is Jazzin' at the Lake with headliners The Chicago Salty Dogs.

Organizers are expecting up to 3,000 people to attend throughout the weekend.

"I think it provides a very nice event that people can go to in the village that is at a very ideal setting," said Rick Schmid, festival technology coordinator. "Lake Ellyn is a very nice place to have an event."

Along with the additional music offerings, officials are expecting more than 40 artists to display their works. Though there are about 15 fewer artists than previous years, Schmid said the number will work well with the new setup, where booths will run along the parkways through Lake Ellyn Park.

Artists will showcase and sell watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, metal sculptures, woodwork, stained glass and mixed media.

There also will be activities to keep kids' creative juices flowing, such as paint-for-fun and the Village Theater Guild's Kids on Stage.

The event, sponsored by the Glen Ellyn Lions Club and Community Bank Wheaton/Glen Ellyn, also features food and is scheduled to proceed, rain or shine.

"I always look forward to this festival," Schmid said. "It's one of the best events that's run in the village."
