Audible angling

When I was photographing people fishing in the Fox River, I noticed that there are a lot of very interesting sounds related to fishing.

So I started recording the sounds to put a sound/slide show together. I recorded the sound of a bell ringing on a fisherman's pole, fishermen walking in the water, rushing dam water, and even the sound of drumfish cooking on a grill.

I photographed people fishing at the dams in Algonquin and Elgin, along the South Elgin bridge, at Walton Island in Elgin, and off the abandoned railroad bridge in Carpentersville.

And, of course, I heard a few fish stories.

I got images of people catching, stringing, cooking, and even eating fish. I even got a chance to try a drumfish taco. It was very good with some hot sauce on it.

Of course, the recent storms have made fishing on the Fox River very dangerous and you should stay away from the river for the time being.
