Briefs: Bialing Xia elected to Cabot board

AURORA -- Cabot Microelectronics Corp., a supplier to the semiconductor industry, said Tuesday Bailing Xia has been elected to its board of directors. Xia, 52, is the chairman and chief executive officer of Summer Leaf Inc., a privately-held technology and project development consulting company in Toronto, and has served in that role since 1996. His term will continue through next year.

Zurich targets businesses

SCHAUMBURG -- Zurich, one of the nation's largest commercial property-casualty insurance companies, is targeting the needs of technology customers by providing a range of coverage designed for mid-sized businesses, the company said. Zurich's focus is on the creators and builders of technology products rather than end-users. Among the solutions is Zurich's new P3, which provides broader coverage and fewer exclusion that other companies' products.
